Facebook – Available DOGS
TV located in our lobby (during the Animal Drop Off hours.)

You will not be allowed to take any animal out of its kennel to interact with unless you have an approved adoption application on file and an interaction appointment.

Please note, the public is asked not to go into our dog area as this disrupts the dogs causing more stress to them. We have a TV in our lobby with our dogs for you to view or you can check them out on our website or Facebook page.

Adoption Process

Adoption is important to us! What is even more important is finding the best fit for our adoptable animals. We strive to find that “best fit” – this is more important to our humane society than processing numbers. Our adoption goal is to match you with a forever companion that will fit your family and lifestyle.

Every animal is an individual and SCHS works hard to make great matches for our animals and adopters. Some animals may have placement restrictions or requirements established by SCHS based on shelter observations and previous home histories. When meeting with your adoption counselor, they review each animal’s medical, behavior, and placement needs with you to help you find an animal who is compatible with your home environment and your lifestyle.

Steps to Adoption

  1. Make sure you have considered what goes into adopting a pet. Here are some things to consider.
  2. Fill out an adoption application. (adoption application below)
  3. Once your application is processed, a SCHS representative will contact you about your application and next steps. This process can take 1-3 business days. This application will be good for 60 days.

You can help to expedite the application process by:

  1. Missing information results in wait time. Please fill out the application completely and accurately.
  2. If you rent, we will require a copy of your current lease. If your lease states, “no pets allowed, unless authorized in writing” we will also require an email from your landlord with permission.
  3. Have your vet prepared to release records to us regarding your past and/or current pets.
