Outreach Manager – Full Time

  • Lead and grow fundraising initiatives, including planning, organizing, and executing events from concept through completion.
  • Develop event budgets, secure sponsorships, coordinate volunteers, and meet revenue goals.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers while maintaining a strong and engaged volunteer program.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities, orientations, appreciation efforts, special event participation, and youth volunteer programs.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners, and the public while promoting the mission of the Sauk County Humane Society.
  • Utilize strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and nonprofit event planning skills in a fast-paced, on-site environment with occasional evenings and weekends required.

Compensation will depend on previous experience and knowledge in non-profit event planning.


Animal Control – Part Time/On Call

  • Respond to animal control calls on an on-call basis, transporting stray, injured, or at-risk animals.
  • Assist law enforcement with animal-related cases, including abandonment, protective custody, bite investigations, and quarantine orders.
  • Handle a physically demanding work environment involving animal restraint, heavy lifting, exposure to noise, odors, chemicals, and potential bites or scratches.
  • Work independently and as part of a team while demonstrating strong communication, problem-solving, and animal welfare knowledge.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain a good driving record, live within 20 minutes of the shelter, and be available for one to two on-call nights per week and one to two weekends per month.

On-Call Shift Schedule & Compensation

Shifts

  • Day Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (some days until 6:30 p.m.)
  • Night Shift: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
  • Weekend Coverage: Saturday & Sunday (day and night shifts)

Compensation

Regular Shifts (On-Call)

  • Base Rate: $30 per shift
  • Call Pay:
    • Day Shift: $10 per hour worked
    • Night Shift: $20 per hour worked

Holiday Shifts (On-Call)

  • Base Rate: $45 per shift
  • Call Pay:
    • Day Shift: $10 per hour worked
    • Night Shift: $20 per hour worked


Shelter Veterinarian

  • Provide comprehensive medical care for shelter animals, including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, disease prevention, vaccinations, testing, and recovery care.
  • Perform spay/neuter surgeries for shelter animals and the low-cost spay/neuter clinic, while helping expand affordable veterinary services to the community.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Veterinarian to develop, implement, and improve shelter medicine protocols and herd health programs.
  • Ensure humane treatment of all animals and maintain best-practice cleaning, sanitation, and disease-control procedures.
  • Deliver timely medical care for sick, injured, or distressed animals in a fast-paced shelter environment.
  • Must possess a DVM/VMD degree, Wisconsin veterinary license, DEA license, and relevant veterinary experience; shelter medicine experience preferred.
  • Part-time position requiring two weekends (or a Saturday/Sunday split) per month, with a strong commitment to teamwork, animal welfare, and ending pet overpopulation.
